Back in April 2018, Casey, Katie and I all jetted off to Alberta, Canada to see Banff National Park; A quick pit-stop before we flew into Vancouver for the first ever Cabin Fever Retreat (a photographer's dream workshop) in the Sunshine Coast. To our surprise, the lakes were still COMLETELY frozen over. We are talking frozen to the point that we would walk across the lakes in inches of snow and not worry about falling through the ice frozen to cold & scary bath.
Man... these two lovebirds Danny and Nataly. This session was on a strangely warm spring evening in Hamilton, NJ graced with a golden puppy and a golden sunset to match. You know what the best part of this session was for me? These two aren't even engaged yet. They just simply appreciate the art of good photography and wanted to document this new stage in their life with their new family member, Paris the pup! Holllaaaa, girl!!
I got to know Nataly and Danny really well that night. They just moved to New Jersey from North Carolina and bought little Paris after 6 months of settling in to their new home here. What bonded them together was something you don't hear everyday; It was because of their lineage! They both come from Easter European families (Nataly - Columbian, Hungarian & Armenian / Danny - Russian), both have Jewish grandparents, speak multiple languages and both of their families immigrated here after communism broke in the late 80's.
Kylie & Cole eloped on a mountaintop in the beautiful British Columbia mountains not far from Halfmoon Bay. This unique corner of the world requires a ride-your-car-on ferry, something we don't have in my neck of the woods (NY/NJ/PA area)! I am so grateful my career can take me to so many different places, to meet giggly and madly in love couples from across the continent like these two lovebirds.
Our team was inspired by creating an elegant, yet outdoorsy, bohemian vibe in the woods of Memorytown USA in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. This woodsy elopement style was a great new option for the venue to push because they have lots of quaint little cabins within feet of the locations at which we shot the ceremony and reception! The ceremony was on a small island in the middle of their lake and the reception was tucked away in the trees by a gravel road. The first look was in their stunning blossoming orchard on the front of the property. We pulled in some amazing talent: a custom never-before-seen dress we collaborated with CJ Bridal, geode cupcakes by Sweets by Saraaa, dainty jewelry custom designed by Everistta, fresh greenery prepared by Cindy Bee Florals, flowing hand calligraphy by PoppySeed Signs and more!
ADVICE FROM SARA
This is such a wonderful day for loved one! As my boyfriend Kevin wrote in a card to me this morning, "It's a day to celebrate and exercise the love we have"! In spirit of that, and just because I love all of my clients, I wanted to do something special for my readers! So, I got to thinking and wanted to come up with something fun and unique that I could design and share like I did last year with the DIY Printable Love Coupons.
Alexandra and Anthony have known each other since high school, but it wasn’t until years later that these sweethearts truly got to know each other better. After high school Anthony went away to a college out west in Arizona and Alexandra stayed with her east coast roots, going to a school in Connecticut. It wasn’t until the two made their way back to their hometown that they were reintroduced by mutual friends. Then, before they knew it, a year had passed and they started dating!
Almost seven years later Anthony decided to pop the question while both their families were on vacation together in Montauk, New York. The couple and their families had spent a beautiful day out together when Anthony’s brother, Jeff, kept expressing his desire to watch the sunset at the nearby lighthouse *wink wink*. Upon his insistence the group made their way to Montauk lighthouse, but along the way Anthony became more and more quiet. Alexandra was trying to figure out what was bothering him, when Anthony suddenly turned to her, tears brimming his eyes. It was right at that moment that Alexandra knew he was going to propose!
Anthony quickly got down on one knee and the rest is history! Of course she said yes! After a few intimate moments were shared by the couple, their families rushed over to congratulate them. They then finished off their night of celebration at Montauk Yacht Club where more friends of the couple joined them to celebrate the evening on a boat!
This adorable couple will be tying the knot officially in the beautiful setting of The Venetian, in Garfield, New Jersey and we are so honored to be able to capture the whole day for them! Alexandra and Anthony describe their wedding as romantic and elegant, but yet still classic. And boy does this venue fill those shoes. Imagine the inside of a palace ballroom, so swoonworthy!
These beautiful shots we captured for their engagement shoot were nestled in Sara Fitz Photography & Design’s own backyard, as well as all across the lovely greenery of Chesterfield in South Jersey. In addition to the custom SF Wedding Logo that we create for all of our bride’s, Alexandra and Anthony gave us the privilege to design their Save-the-Dates as well! They chose the pictures, we tackled the design (matching their wedding logo perfectly), and aren’t they just gorgeous!
ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE
Alison and Barry's wedding was definitely one I won't forget. They charmed the pants off of everyone with their quaint boho chic style wedding nestled on the D&R Canal not far from Princeton, NJ.
Their wedding day started with a First Look right in front of Eno Terra Restaurant & Enoteca in Kingston, NJ. This place is a diamond in the rough for nature-lovers, seriously! Eno Terra's curb appeal is a different than what you typically find in the New Jersey area, giving off a mountain-top Vermont cabin type-of-feel. Right under the front awning, they have two beautiful living walls and I hear their Mediterranean food is amazing! Think glorified Zoës Kitchen yummy goodness in a charming wine cellar environment, OMG!!
Alison and Barry met at a work function after Barry was rehired back in December of 2013. They stayed acquaintances through work for a few years until June of 2015 when Barry took Alison to we dinner at Baker's American Bar and Grill in Monroe, NJ. Before they knew it, they were dating and making history together!
Barry proposed on April 30th, 2017 at the top of the Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskill Mountains. After a strenuous hike to the very top of the falls, Barry got down on one knee and asked Alison the big question and of course she said YES! Then spent the night in one of the as-seen-on-Shark Tank tiny houses (160 SQ feet!), which are booked through a company called Getaway House. They said it was a super cool experience!
"We laugh together and have fun together every single day, no matter what we're doing. Whether we're waiting on line at grocery store or talking on the phone while sitting in rush hour traffic- we always seem to be able to brighten each other's day. We love trying new restaurants, exploring new places, outdoor adventure (hiking, horseback riding , water tubing, recently introduced to jet skiing), weekend getaways, and concerts. We also love spending time with Barry's son Jaysen - which adds so much more fun activity to the list (zoos, aquarium, theme parks, water parks, arcades, bowling, ice skating, etc). We're a family that loves to get out of the house and just have fun!"
